CHECK YOUR SHERIFF'S WEBSITE FOR CCW PROCESS AND REQUIREMENTS.
AB2103 Signed into law by Governor Brown requires all CCW applicants – new, renewing and those modifying the permit to complete and pass a live-fire qualification. This is set by your licensing authority not Weapons Training School. It also requires new applicants to take at least an 8-hour Certification Course. We suggest that you contact your Sheriff or Police Department to find out the procedure and qualification so you can practice. We are required to evaluate your handgun skills and proficiency – we cannot coach you through your qualification. If your county requires 16 hours, please contact us to make arrangements. This is two full days - 8 hours in classroom plus 8 hours on range.
New Applicant courses will require at least 100 rounds of ammunition for your main carry gun. This is not the class to learn how to shoot.
PLEASE NOTE: It is mandatory that you come to class prepared. If you do not already have some of the required equipment, please contact us well in advance of your course. Calling us the night before class will leave you in a bad situation. If you come to class unprepared, you run the risk of being sent home before class starts or not passing your qualification. It is impossible for us to qualify you, if you do not bring the proper tools. We truly want to help…please give us the opportunity.
You must bring the following items:
o ALL handguns being added to your permit; UNLOADED. They must be in a bag or case, not holstered on your body. Please ensure your handgun works properly.
o At least two magazines. We suggest multiple magazines, speed-loaders or stripper clips for live-fire portion. All qualifications require a reload.
o You will need a holster, purse or fanny pack for your main carry gun. Please make sure your holster fits your handgun properly.
o A sturdy belt to hold your holster.
o Quality Ammunition for each firearm. Each county has different requirements for live-fire qualification. Please make sure you have the correct amount and type of ammunition for your handguns.
o Ear and eye protection, closed-toed shoes. (for safety)
o Ball-cap style hat or visor for live fire segment (safety issue – helps keep brass out from our safety glasses)
